As the culminating conversation at the Women Filmmakers Festival at SAAM in March 2020, I was in conversation with “Born in Flames” director Lizzie Borden. It was my honor. Days later, the corona virus pandemic shut down all events, and her film about a future that is both speculative and enmeshed with the biases of the past has only grown in relevance.
